SUMMER 2024 was nearing its sweet end. The palms of Riyadh swayed a little more vividly than usual and the foliage of Central Park in New York City began to swap its long season of sharp greens for golden ambers. Photographer Kevin Tachman arrived in Tribeca with more camera equipment than the Deenathe1st team had shoe boxes stacked on-set. And so the process began where Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz would showcase her debut shoe collection - a collaboration with Marina Larroudé - for the click/flash of Tachman's lens.

Guy Bourdin’s witty ‘90s photographic works of elegant women wearing stilettos in unexpected settings were pinned to the team mood board. "We wanted to create a photoshoot that made people stop and smile," shared the Deenathe1st creative team. The rooftop of a certain building in downtown NYC was the set for this collection campaign photoshoot. A graphic blue sky dabbled with fluffy clouds gave a popping backdrop for the steely skyscrapers surrounding the roof where metallic wedges and tactile suede pumps were styled into position by Deena herself.
“This collection has been created with so much joy between myself and Marina and our teams. This is a full circle moment for us as friends and our brands that have joined forces to bring this vision to reality,” says Deena, with her signature smile. At the beginning of Larroudé’s brand inception, Deena featured as one of the first ambassadors of the shoe maison. The first photoshoot happened during lockdown via Zoom with Hunter Abrams and Marina online directing Deena at home wearing some of Larroudé's first designs. Years later the two brands collaborated again with a shared vision of radical elegance crystallised into two shoe styles - a suede pump and a so-wearable wedge. Comfort and flattering form were front of mind.

“It’s important that collaborations spring from genuine connections and are crafted with quality by kind hands. This collection has layers of stories behind them that ultimately tell the tale of how friendship can take you to higher places. When women support women in business an unstoppable message is made; this is personal,” states Deena.

“I simply cannot wait to see how women from all over the world, from LA to Jeddah, Paris and Dubai make these shoes their own,” adds Deena.
